The filter is now officially certified to the additional standard of NSF/ANSI 401 (as well as 42 & 53 which the older model was certified to). NSF/ANSI 401 certifies that this filter also removes 'Emerging' contaminants, which are a new category of water quality concerns for which evidence of health effects has not yet been established due in part to the trace levels at which these compounds are currently being detected.
